To ensure that we recommend genuinely qualified postpartum yoga teachers, we've used the following criteria to score and rank each candidate:
Public Profile: Each teacher maintains a website, studio page, or professional profile that lets clients learn about them and book.
Private Session Availability: Each teacher offers private (1-on-1) sessions, not only group classes. In addition, we've scored each teacher on a variety of factors:
- Public Profile: All teachers maintain a website, studio page, or professional profile (mandatory).
- Private Session Availability: Each teacher offers private (1-on-1) sessions, not only group classes (mandatory).

RYT 200 / RYT 500 — Registered Yoga Teacher. 200 or 500 hours of general yoga teacher training, registered with Yoga Alliance.
E-RYT 200 / E-RYT 500 — Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher. The same training plus at least 1,000 (E-RYT 200) or 2,000 (E-RYT 500) hours of documented teaching.
RPYT — Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher. An additional 85-hour prenatal and postpartum specialization, which requires an RYT credential first.
On "or equivalent". Yoga Alliance registration is a useful shorthand, not the thing we are measuring. Plenty of experienced teachers never register, or let a registration lapse, and a teacher who documents her training hours, her training providers and the years she has been teaching is evidencing the same thing the registry stands for. We score that evidence where a teacher's own site makes it checkable. The reverse also holds: a registration earned very recently places a teacher near the bottom of this criterion, because the years of teaching are what the upper bands are built on.
When two teachers tie. Totals are close often enough that ties happen. We break them on Postpartum Specialization first, then Qualifications & Teaching Experience — the two criteria that speak most directly to postpartum work. A one-point gap is not a meaningful difference between two teachers; read the criteria that matter to you rather than the ordering.
※Please note that these scores are subjective and meant to serve as a guide. Different individuals may prioritize different aspects when choosing a postpartum yoga teacher. Every score is checked against each teacher's own website, and where a site has changed, the current site is what we scored.
