Who We Are

Our Yoga Journey Began in 2005

UTL Tokyo and KL
Our yoga journey began when our Parent Company, UTL Inc ( UNDER THE LIGHT YOGA INC), launched its yoga school in Yoyogi, Tokyo.
Today, we are one of Asia's largest Yoga Alliance teacher training schools with over 1000 RYT200 certified yoga graduates.
-
Since then, we've built beautiful relationships with international yoga instructors, which allowed us to organize special workshops, events, and Yoga Alliance-certified teacher training courses.

Cross the border

In 2016, we embarked on a journey to South East Asia and built a new base in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
We made many beautiful friends from various backgrounds and practiced yoga together!

Going Virtual - The New Approach to Yoga Classes

In May 2020, we launched our online platform, “OMTOGETHER,” to provide online yoga classes to our community during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Through our live online yoga classes, students and teachers can interact and practice yoga together, which builds togetherness amidst the pandemic. Better yet, we get to practice with our friends around the globe via this virtual platform!

1 on 1 - More Interactive, More Personal

After going through 2 years of the Covid-19 pandemic, we took on the next challenge in our yoga journey, which is to connect the world through yoga.
We discovered that online group classes could be challenging for some who struggle with injuries and different body conditions.
From this, we decided to offer 1-on-1 yoga classes to individuals across the globe for a more interactive and personal experience during online yoga classes.
-
With our new 1-on-1 yoga platform, we hope to elevate the connection between yoga teachers and students virtually - going back to the original meaning of yoga which is to ‘connect’ for the first time in 5,000 years of yoga history.

Jimmy - Founder

- His best practice in 18 years at Petco Park, San Diego -
-
Jimmy began his yoga journey in April 2004 when he worked for a company with a chain of yoga studios across Tokyo.
He joined his first yoga class to understand yoga practice as a business operator. Since that first class, he discovered that he could focus on himself while on the mat, which helped to silence his mind from thinking about his daily worries.
He continued his practice daily for 18 years but found it difficult to progress due to his lower back pain from a childhood injury. During the pandemic, he engaged a few yoga teachers for one-on-one yoga classes and realized that it was the practice he needed all along!
His teachers' attention and feedback have helped him improve his practice.

Joanne

Joanne came into contact with yoga when joined her group of friends for a group yoga session 10 years ago when she was in her early 20s. She knew immediately that yoga was something that she prefers to adapt into her lifestyle as it was a form of mental training, not just physical training.
However, due to her hectic work lifestyle, she could not keep up with regular practice. She finds it hard to progress in yoga asanas as she will practice consistently for a frame of time, and then stop practicing due to work deadlines or personal matters. There was also no proper system as she was following random group flow classes in various yoga studios and gyms.
She discovered that with 1 on 1 attention from a yoga teacher, there is better focus on improving each pose and refining it, rather than merely following others just to keep up. She is able to practice according to her own pace and needs as well as work on her asanas slowly, patiently with proper guidance from her 1on1 yoga teacher.

Misaki

With over 20 years of classical ballet experience, Misaki discovered yoga in 2016, completed the Yoga RYT 200 course in 2021, and became a yoga instructor.
Thanks to her classical ballet background, she was flexible but could not always do asanas that required arm strength.
Whenever she did poses that required arm strength in group classes, she had nothing to do, but after discovering 1-on-1 yoga classes, she could train at her own pace.
