Exercise and mindfulness are both good for your mental health, but did you know that combining them can be even better? 🧠💪
A new study has found that people who exercise regularly and practice mindfulness are more likely to report better mental health than people who do only one or the other. The study also found that mindfulness can help people stick to their exercise routines, which is important for long-term mental health benefits.
What kind of exercise should you be doing? Yoga is the exercise combined with mindfulness but how can we make the most out of it?
Before diving into yoga poses, carve out a few minutes for mindful breathing. Let your awareness settle on the rise and fall of your chest and abdomen, feeling each inhale and exhale. Carry this presence into your practice. As you move, engage your senses: the ground beneath your feet, the stretch in your muscles, the dance of your breath. Stay present, like a gentle observer of your body's sensations. This is mindful yoga - a journey inwards, one breath and movement at a time.
